Memo

When a teenager enters an adult life, he/she is expected to change himself as well. At the same time it is very important to stay who he/she is. A young person is to find his/her place in a society and define own tempo of adaptation.

The first touch of the society rules is the first year at college. It means that a young person faces many unusual ideas. So, mentally it could be difficult to youth. Psychologically, it is possible to cope with every problem.

Studying abroad and pre-work

Studying abroad is a step to individualization and socialization of a child. At the same time, it is a big challenge to both parents and children. If you are a parent, you have to consider every advantage and disadvantage of your child's studying abroad, make everything possible to prepare your child to this step in his/her life. Ask your child the most important questions. Why does he/she want it? Is he/she ready to change the usual habits? How is he/she going to get along with the strange people? What plans has he/she? How is he/she going to deal with the conflicts, stresses, misunderstandings? What organizations and groups would he/she like to take part?

If you are a parent of the teenager who feels worried abroad, try to help him/her overcome the period of adaptation as sometimes the parents and other close people are the only ones who can support and dictate the thought that there is nothing awful in anxiety, that worries will be over soon. Usually this problem is turned to be with those young people who were under control or total care of the parents or in the case when a young guy does not like the place at all. Try to explain him/her that everybody is new in some group once in a life and that it is better to open mind and heart to the new ideas and possible surprises.
