Parents' role in youth job search

Social activity as a special behavior of a person includes job. In the modern society it is one of the most requirable elements of the positive personal style. A teenager who is willing to work instead of studying at college is a popular picture nowadays.

The parents' role in this case is to understand what a teenager wants, the advantages and disadvantages of his/her plans and ideas, clear up the shortcuts and positive sides, work out the decision together. The matter is that at this age a young person is not aware definitely what he/she wants and needs guidance on the road. Let a teenager try different jobs (usually, they are proposed to be shop assistants, to work at the internet) and check what it is like. It is worthy looking through the magazines and internet sites together to be aware of what your child is doing. Give him an idea that school education is not sufficient to get a well-paid job. Usually school gives only the general idea about himself, life and world opportunities. At college a person gets deeper knowledge. By the way, some students are still unsure about the right choice even in a year of their studying. The good new is that it gives a person the right to change the college.

Also, try to explain him/her that it is possible to combine work and studying successfully. If in the short time he/she finds out that the things are not so good, the situation is to be changed to the better. But usually the teenagers and young people get used to the wisely created situation and continue working and studying simultaneously. It develops responsible attitude towards life, independence, self-confidence about own achievements (for example, a girl next door is still asking parents for cash, but your child is able to earn by himself).
