Memo

When a teenager enters an adult life, he/she is expected to change himself as well. At the same time it is very important to stay who he/she is. A young person is to find his/her place in a society and define own tempo of adaptation.

The first touch of the society rules is the first year at college. It means that a young person faces many unusual ideas. So, mentally it could be difficult to youth. Psychologically, it is possible to cope with every problem.

Out of control

When a teenager is under parents' control, there is an ordinary and legitimate scenario of his/her behavior. Clothes, meal, school – everything is dictated by the parents in the suppressive or loyal form. Even the friends are valued by the parents. But when a teenager starts separate life in the campus, he/she used to make the first steps in choosing what he/she likes or dislikes. In this situation the parents' influence is less important. A young person tries to find somebody who is similar in the thoughts and opinions. It happens that new ideas involve a young person and make him/her stand for the new ideals.

Young people used to get together and create the social groups in such a way. As a young person is trying to learn the world, it is logical that he/she makes himself or herself opposite to the society with its rules and appropriateness. Young people suggest that there is a separate unit within the large society which is different to the larger part of a society. It is a sort of an island in the ocean of the dominant formation.

If you find out that your child is involved into this entity, do not be upset. Just remember how you acted in this age. You are to understand everything. Anyway, there are some formations in a society which are doubtful as for their positive role (for example, emo kids), but it is logical as well. The young people who are the part of such groups need more loyal and cautious attention.

Social activity of theirs results into the youth subcultures which are displayed like an opportunity to express own life style and feel a part of a society where everybody has own place.
