Memo

When a teenager enters an adult life, he/she is expected to change himself as well. At the same time it is very important to stay who he/she is. A young person is to find his/her place in a society and define own tempo of adaptation.

The first touch of the society rules is the first year at college. It means that a young person faces many unusual ideas. So, mentally it could be difficult to youth. Psychologically, it is possible to cope with every problem.

Youth social activity

Young people's self-defining begins when he/she is just a teenager. Moreover, usually it happens when the parents do not expect it. You tell your child "good night" and turn off the light in order to leave him/her in the total darkness to sleep. However, it turns out that he/she wants to read, watch TV, surf the internet, so, whatever, but not to sleep. The most interesting fact that you cannot explain him/her that he/she is still a child and must listen to your words, because you know what' best to your child. The matter is that your child does not want to be just a child any more. The child steps the road of own opinions and thoughts forming. From that moment your child has own point of view, perhaps, even some goals, for example, to be against you. It is natural as any young person goes though the circle of self-confidence, self-understanding, self-defining and world confrontation until he/she understands who he/she is and what he/she wants in a life.

Individualization derives two ways of behavior. The first one is less natural; it is ignorance and boredom about the world and society. A young person does not have interest in a life and new opportunities. Usually, it is the result of the personal troubles or psychological type. But the most logical way of conduct is activity.

Young person's social activity is defined with some factors like new friends, search for a job or a good school, participation in the social life, belonging to the official and non-official groups, having own slang, unique style and different values and norms. In the age, when a teenager starts participating in the social life, he/she tried to divide the world into "us" and "they". In such a way, his activity embodies personal character, when his opinion makes him/her try this world and own principles to check for correctness.

In general, activity is derived with the needs. Social activity is the need of a young person in communication, similar outlook, self-definition and belonging to a certain social group. So, if you wish to understand your teenager better, try to deep into his/her interests and, therefore, the needs. If every parent could feel in his child's shoes, the things could be much easier and more understandable. If the teenagers were less critical and sharp in their growing and self-defining, the parents would not be so alarmed and stressed with this important period in their children's lives. But let the things be like they are as it is the logical way of the personal development as a social object.
